We are proud of the breadth and range of experience across our team.

All of our Experts are registered occupational therapists with experience in care management/or case management, manual handling, housing adaptation and aids and equipment assessment.

All of our experts undertake regular training and development activities including court room skills training. Team members are supervised by Anne and their work goes through a rigorous quality control process.


Company Director, Occupational Therapist and Care Consultant

Based in North Berwick

Anne is an experienced care professional with significant clinical and managerial experience of providing care, support and rehabilitation services for those affected by serious or catastrophic injury.

Anne has been preparing medico legal reports since 1997 and has a wide range of experience in the field. She has a particular interest and experience in catastrophic cases including paediatric cases including cerebral palsy, high level spinal injury and serious head injury.

Anne leads the clinical team at Anne Cossar and Associates. She is a registered member of the Health Professions Council and the British Association of Occupational Therapy.


Occupational Therapist, Manual Handling Consultant and Care Consultant

Based in North Berwick

Eleanor qualified as an Occupational Therapist from the Glasgow School of Occupational Therapy in 1973. She is a registered member of the Health Professions Council and the British Association of Occupational Therapy.

Eleanor joined Anne Cossar and Associates in 2014 and has completed Medico Legal Personal Injury Needs Reports, Immediate Needs Reports, Accommodation Reports and Moving and Handling Risk Assessments. She has also undertaken a Case Management role.

Eleanor has a wide range of clinical experience in the assessment and rehabilitation of adults with medical, neurological and orthopaedic conditions in both hospital and, for most of her career, community settings.

Eleanor has particular experience in providing a home based occupational therapy and care needs assessment and the recommendation of a wide range of services including adaptations and specialist equipment and care for adults with complex needs, living in the community.

Eleanor had a recognised Moving and Handling Facilitators certificate and has used this experience in providing moving and handling risk assessments both in her role as a community OT and in her current role as a care consultant.


Occupational Therapist, Care Consultant and Manual Handling Consultant

Based in Edinburgh

Norma graduated in 2001 with a BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy. Her initial posts were within a hospital setting covering medical admission wards, cardiology, orthopaedics and oncology.

In 2002 she moved to a community based role working in day centres for adults with a physical disability. In that post Norma specialised in developing assessments and rehabilitation goal setting with clients who have acquired disability and neuro-progressive conditions.

In 2004 Norma secured a full time post as a community occupational therapist, assessing clients with a physical disability within their home environment. She remains in that post on a part time basis. She has been involved in a number of cases which have required major housing adaptation, provision of complex care packages and specialist equipment. During this time Norma has developed specialist skills in client handling and was seconded to children and families department between the years of 2007-2009 to review and develop their client handling service.

In addition to this Norma has been practising as a people handling facilitator since 2002, working for a charitable organisation, Training for Care. Norma has qualified as a postural care trainer and was recently appointed chair of the Lothian Postural Management Steering Group.

Norma has undertaken medico legal needs reports and manual handling assessments since 2012 and we are delighted that she has recently joined Anne Cossar and Associates Ltd.


Occupational Therapist and Care Consultant

Based in Eaglesham

Leslie qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1988.

She has a wide range of clinical expertise working with clients with complex needs. Her particular specialism is spinal injury/neurological rehabilitation and hand and upper limb injuries.

Leslie worked for many years at the National Spinal Injuries Unit in Glasgow. She won the Outstanding Woman in Spinal Cord Injury for Scotland award in 2013.

In the last 3 years Leslie has had the opportunity to extend and broaden her skills working in the private sector and in the community in various roles that have included:

  • Assessment for and provision of equipment and housing adaptations, including wheelchair assessment.
  • Assessing clients’ care needs, reviewing and organising provision of care packages in the community.
  • Providing moving and handling advice


Occupational Therapist and Care Consultant

Based in Edinburgh

Laura graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2000 with an MA (Social Sciences). She then went on to complete her Pg Dip OT at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh in 2003.

Laura has also worked in hospital settings both in the UK and in Australia in a number of clinical areas, including neurology, elderly rehabilitation, orthopaedics.

Since January 2010 Laura has worked in community teams within the City of Edinburgh Council and has particular expertise in provision of specialist equipment and adaptation to a wide range of clients.

Laura is an accredited Manual Handling Facilitator and she has used these skills and this experience in a number of person handling assessments.

Laura has been preparing Medico Legal Reports and independent Occupational Therapy Reports since 2009.

Laura is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and is fully registered with the Health Professions Council.


Care Consultant

Based in Ayr

Carolann is an experienced professional with extensive experience in the healthcare sector and a background in nursing.

Carolann has excellent communication skills and a breadth of knowledge of the care sector. Her extensive experience has included developing and managing two leading complex care providers in the community in Scotland.

Carolann has expertise in assessing and reporting on the abilities and needs of people with disabilities, for medico-legal purposes.


MA (Hons) in Social Work with DipSE
Case Manager

Based in Edinburgh

Lorna is an experienced Social Worker, having qualified in 2001. She has many years of experience as a Social Worker working with individuals with physical disabilities and mental health issues, and older people.

Lorna has 10 years’ senior management experience of managing service for individuals with learning and physical disabilities, brain injury and autism. She has experience of being a registered manager and of complying with SSSC and Care Inspectorate requirements.

Lorna also has 4 years’ experience working as a Strategy Officer where she was involved in Service Re-design and Contract Monitoring for Care At Home and Housing Support Services.

Lorna has a track record of improving services for those in receipt of care services. Her roles have focused on service user involvement and stakeholder engagement, where she has achieved the highest grades from the Care Inspectorate for participation and inclusion, ensuring that the service user is central to all decision making.

Occupational Therapist and Care Consultant

Based in Carluke

Jill qualified in 1999 with an Honours degree in Occupational Therapy from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She is a registered member of the Health Professions Council and the British Association of Occupational Therapy.

Jill has a wide range of clinical experience in assessing and reporting on the abilities and needs of people with physical, cognitive and mental health impairments including those with complex and profound disabilities.

Jill joined Anne Cossar and Associates in 2016 and has completed Medico Legal Personal Injury Needs Reports, Past and Future Care Reports on adults and children with a range of disabilities including traumatic brain injury, cauda equina, lower and upper limb injury, back injuries and visual impairment. She has experience in working with clients with mental health problems, learning disabilities, brain injury and a wider scope of physical disability and care needs.
